baby clothes blanket

I wanted to take a moment and just share some ideas for baby clothes.  You know, the ones that baby made a "mess" in and the onesies are all stained brown at the bottoms...  or the ones that have soo much yuck around the collar that you can't even donate them?  Or how about the ones that you just can't seem to let go of and want to keep?  What I have done is take those clothes and cut squares.  They do not all have to be the same size.  As long as when it all comes together it's all straight on the top and bottom, left and right you are okay.  If it's a picture, cut out the picture.  If its just fabric, that's fine too.  Just make sure you cut the square piece from seam to seam and you don't have the sewed part in your square.  Put them all together.  Make a blanket.  When you are down sewing them all together, go to a crafty type store (or Walmart, doesn't matter) and pick out a fabric to be the back.  Make sure you measure so you know how much you will need.  Place both fabrics nice side down.  Sew three sides.  You can either leave it like this pull it through so it's right side out and sew up the end, or you can pull it through and fill it with polyfil (flat).  If you decide on the polyfil, remember with each wash it will get bunched up bits at a time so hanging it out to dry would be best, after hand washing it.  If you do the polyfil sew little spots through the seams of the pics through the polyfil itself to the back.  Buttons in these spots work nice to cover up any weird looking spots.  This will hold the filling in place.  Sew up the end and keep your babies clothes that you just couldn't part with!  For an example, you can go to the link below and see one finished.  It has two of my old shirts in it and I cut up an old pink baby blanket of mine.  I drew pics on some squares for the rest of them.  I picked a polyester back.  My son loved it.
